In this project we were to make a dashboard that follows a system. In the system the type, colors, etc... should match and be cohesive. We started with sketches then a medium wire frame, and worked on widgets and assets. Finally, we finished up making the dashboard. from here, we went into xd, to add buttons and other interactive parts to the dashboard.

goals:
A big goal of mine was simply to make the dashboard represent my style. I wanted it to be able to function yet be aesthetic as well. I feel i met this, with the rounded corners and color palette. Another goal, was to work with detail, as i am very quick to design in a more simple way.
preliminary work:
notes:
colors(blue, white)
use drop shadows
textured background
industry type(bold)

other research i did was looking at other dashboards, even ones similar in context to mine, to see what is out there. this allowed me to take successful parts of others, but create a different options for others.

above you can see different buttons and icons used. I chose these as they fit together in shape and form. They match other objects in the design as well. They have been made to be clear, and not distract from the meaning of the board.
on my medium wire frame(above) i had the general layout set. the colors, and style was mainly set here. I started with the widget boxes, set the roundness, and ordered most of the type. in this stage i have a search bar that i ended up deleting as well.
to explain better how it will be used:
scrolling is the main way to navigate the board.
clicking on news at the top will select it so you can view it
you can set new goals by pressing the plus
clicking on different runs will open them up as well.
clicking on the calendar will open the run you did that day on the left side
the news will scroll left on its own
clicking teh options under teh titles will switch from weeks, months, etc...
my dashboard is for runners. Any one who tracks runs, can upload their runs, views stats, sets goals, and stay up to date on all of their progress.
the colors used are blue, black, and white
the blue is used to highlight features, black serves as type and details, and the white is mainly for space. I choose these colors as they are simple clean and allow the board to look clean.
knowlege gained:
I learned a lot in xd, on how to make buttons, but also that xd can be very hard as well.  I learned about design systems as well, and making them, means everything has to match, not just the type, or just the buttons. I learned a lot as well about higharcy, and making things make sense based of of that.
